OVERVIEW
This article lists the device options available to MA employees. Every employee receives a laptop of their choice when they start. We recommend Macs because they are far and away the most common among MA employees and students, and therefore the most supported. Windows-based devices from Microsoft are available too, however.
In addition to a laptop, MA employees also have the option of getting an iPad with a keyboard, cover/case, and Apple Pencil. iPads have been used to grade student work more efficiently, as second displays to increase productivity, as screen recorders, and a number of other uses.
New employees can request an iPad from the tech office for a trial period of 90 days. If the trial is successful, you can purchase an iPad.

Apple MacBook AIR 13"

The MacBook air was redesigned in fall 2020, with the biggest improvement being the addition of Apple's brand new processors. This machine is so powerful it completely replaced the 13" MacBook Pro in Apple's lineup. The 13" Apple MacBook Air is the lightest, most portable option we offer It that excels multi-tab web browsing, image editing, video processing, and more. Apple MacBook Pro 14"

The new 14" MacBook Pro is incredibly powerful and excels at everything an MA Employee can throw at it. The downside is reduced battery life and a heavier weight (both laptop and charger) compared to the MacBook Air. But if you need a little extra muscle and are willing to sacrifice an external monitor, this is the laptop for you. Specs at a glance:

Apple MacBook Pro 16" (new: requires approval)

The most powerful option for MA employees that need it is the 16” MacBook Pro. It's overkill for almost everything at MA. If you work daily with a lot of large video, image, or sound files, this is your dream machine. Specs at a glance:
